Hi Homefire,

Thanks for the welcome. I dont have a detector, but a close friend does. We share a serious mental disorder that I call "rock-itis" Grin. I have found quite a few fossils were I am and now I'm looking at some new prospects. I have found a unique spot that used to be a stream so I cant help but think that the possibility of finding some interesting minerals.
So far the info on here has been amazing, if nothing shows were I'm looking maybe I'll learn enough to look in better places, lol.

Welcome from Idaho.  There is a lot of good information in the forums.  I've only been here a couple of days and found a lot of good reading.  I hear there are a lof of good meteorite hunting grounds up in Canada.
Good luck hunting.  Jason.

Just to answer the question, "do we have rocks?". I was laughing to myself reading that, I'll give you a description of my property and you can be the judge. Smiley  I built my house on a 55 acre piece of property that is mostly mixed bush, hardwoods, cedar swamp and a few open spots throughout. There is a limestone ridge that runs through the back side, around 30 feet high at most points. The limestone is anywhere from 4 feet below the surface to exposed throughout the property. When we drilled my well, the limestone was 75 ft thick and then the granite started. My well is 300 feet and solid rock the whole way. The plus to the limestone is the fossils that I find. I've also found quite a few geodes(not sure if I spelled that right) in one place not far from the house. So I guess the answer is yes, we do have rocks. Grin
