Go Up Go Down

Just getting started, looking at Metal Detectors now that I'm retired and have the time to get serious. Living in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Spending the winter in the Sequim, Wa. area and hoping to hook up with a club in that area. Waiting to find out if my bride and I are going to get hired to work in Skagway, Alaska this summer...

Hi Ed and welcome. A local club would be beneficial 1st step for someone interested in detecting. You can see what they have found, what detectors they use, etc. There's also plenty of information on this site that will help you, too. Skagway would be a fun place to swing the coil. Detecting is a nice hobby that you and the bride can share - psst, she'll probably want her own. Sue

Thanks for the friendly welcome. I'll find a club to help me get started as soon as we get settled in the Sequim, WA. area. I want to get plenty of experience in case we do get hired on in Skagway. Just thinking about the history in that area gets me motivated.
Ed

Welcome Ed, if the bride isn?t into hunting yet, start her off with with a simple to use but good machine (No China rubbish), something like a Garrett ACE 150/250, and learn her to go slow and low with it. Once she has her first finds, she?ll be hooked, and you?ll have a detecting partner too.

Smiley Welcome aboard Ed! Good to see you're gettin' ready for some cool adventures with the magic wand, now that you're retired. Probably the neatest hobby you could ever hook up with. It even pays for itself!  Cool

Cheers, lb
