Hey all

I am from Windhoek, Namibia. Most of you won't know where it is Wink, enjoy finding it  Grin.

I do not have a metal detector yet, but am trying hard to find one. There is no one in this country selling metal detectors it seems Sad

Also, seems I can't find anyone in Namibia participating in MD.

I will mission alone on this road, but look forward to finding just about anything.

Will keep you posted of my finds, once I can get my hands on a metal detector. Thinking of a Garrett 250 maybe (advise would be appreciated)Huh?

Look forward to participating in this community.

Ah Yes,

Also look under the club section of the site. We have 2 members from Namibia. One of which is in Windhoek. I'm sure he would be keen to meet up with you.

Get in touch.

ill help you out.

Cant go wrong with an Ace 250 as your first Unit. I started on this one myself. Nice and cheap, light, batteries last forever, I was happy with the depth and discrimination as well as pinpoint. I certainly don't regret my decision to start with this unit. Found plenty of old coins etc.

Rich. (Metal Detector SA)

Welcome from Arizona.   While we may not have many members from Namibia, we do have quite a few from South Africa.   Between that and the fact that a lot of folks who swing detectors are history nuts, you'd be surprised at how many of actually do know where Namibia is and even know some of it's history.   Heck, we even have a couple of folks here who can speak Afrikaans and a few more who can manage to read it even if they don't speak it.

Enjoy the fellowship.  And you can do worse than a Garrett Ace 250.

Hi Namibiandetective welcome....You must have loads of sites to hunt, with your rich history, but i would stay well clear of the North especially near the Cunene river .I spent a while there 24 years ago dodging landmines ,bullets and loads of unexploded ordinace...There is still  probably loads still lying around in the bush...Good luck.

Thx Taylor

Good advise. Since i'm in the city and totally new to MD, I think I will start of at home, some sport grounds, riverbeds and parks.
Will probably only find clad, but still excited none the less. Cheesy

Good for you, you found them!  Like you said, not a day trip from Namibia!!  Good luck with your metal detecting.

You never know what you will find with a detector!
