It's here, but it's mostly found by detecting and by drywashing (don't often have enough water nearby to pan).

Ask away, what homefire can't answer, there is usually someone else who can

Given your interest, if you aren't already a member of GPAA (Gold Prospectors Association of America) you ought to seriously consider joining.  Annual dues are relatively light on the wallet and mdmbership gets you access to claims that are proven producers throughout the country.

As for Arizona, in addition to the Lynx Creek withdrawl in the Prescott National forest, you might want to check out Congress, a small community between Prescott and Wickenburg, near the Rich Hill goldfield.  There are a couple of clubs there that you can join for about what a day hunt will cost you at most fee panning locations.   Membership in any of them will get you access to their claims in one of the richest gold producing areas of Arizona.
