Very cool Gambol, what a fantastic simple idea! I've been using my fingers.... I will take one out the next time I go for sure. Thanks! & thanks for the pic
This may be a stupid question, is the pick up at the center of the eye of the coil? Not too sure what the golf tee does?

YoMaynardone, Not a stupid question. Pickup is in the center of the coil. I put the tee on the edge because I am going to dig in the center. Its easy to judge the center from the tee. Another trick I use is carrying a 16x16inch piece of canvas in my back pocket. I cut out a round plug of grass with a knife, place it on the cloth with all the sand I dig out. Then drag the cloth a few inches away from the dig. Check the dig with the detector to see if I got it and if I did check the cloth with the detector or probe If its on the cloth rake it out with the fork. This works for coin shooting at 3-6 inches. The reason I use the cloth is some coins were falling out into the grass and were hard to find even after they were dug out. Also when you cover your hole pick up two corners of the cloth and dump the sand in the hole. If the soil is damp I use the cloth to wipe my tools.  I feel that it is important to do a good job covering in parks and school yards. Put the grass plug back in and step on it. I hope this helps. gambol

Gambol... more great stuff... thanks to you, I have more education & more items to add to my "bag of tricks". Thanks for your help. I will add the fork, canvas, knife & golf tee...
I've been doing sand my first 2 outings, I would check what I had dug out as well as the dig spot to see if I had retrieved the coin, I noticed it was hard to locate the coin/s from the loose sand I had dug. Makes sense to create a barrier for the fresh sand or soil. Thanks! I always make sure I cover my holes as close to original as possible, I may want to go back someday, plus there is a play park & beach for the kids & families where I am hunting. I would also feel bad if someone fell or turned an ankle, safety is a priority.
Yes, helps a lot Gambol   Pray  Thanks again, Kevin Maynard
