Welcome from a Texan living in Arizona.   As GD said, you've got a really good machine there.  I'd recommend that you get involved in a local club, even if you have to drive a ways to attend meetings.  And if you're going to hunt in Bexar County/San Antonio make sure you're real clear about which parks you can hunt in and which you can't.  You'll need a permit for the San Antonio parks that do allow hunting, but fortunately all of that can be found online pretty easily.  (In fact I've got it I posted it in one of my responses recently, so if you can't find it via google, come back here, pull up my post, and then use the link there to look at my recent posts).
