Go Up Go Down

 Hello
Just introducing myself to everyone here. I live in Melbourne Australia.
I am looking forward to next year when I may occasionally have a couple hours free every month in which to look for gold and gems . I have purchased my permit and have tried panning but haven't found anything of value yet. A metal detector is my next step. But with a hundred things higher on my priority list I think my only hope of owning one is to build one myself. I have several different schematics and magazine articles which I have begun collecting. The main thing is to work out which one is feasible. Finding all the components is one challenge as well as choosing a design that has enough instruction included so I can actually finish it.

My electronic skills are just past beginner level. I've spent the past few months reading books on electronics. I have a digital multi meter and soldering iron. I have the "Eleven" Arduino Uno compatible board from Freetronics and have successfully completed all the projects in the accompanying booklet. Now I am working through the book called "Electronic Circuits For The Evil Genius" which is written in a way I found very easy to understand and follow. And I can use the breadboard from the Arduino kit to work through the lessons.

Clapp Best answer I've read in a very long time. You keep at it and pretty soon you'll be telling us how to do it LOL Let me know when you want to build a detector and I'll help you through it.
