	New to this from Dallas, Tx « on: June 28, 2010, 05:46:34 am »

Hello all! Im new to this site and to metal detecting in general. Ive always wanted a metal detector but never wanted to pay a fortune for one. Two weeks ago I finally bought one. Anyways I havnt done any treasure hunting yet because Im still trying to figure out where the best places to go. Im in Carrollton just north of Dallas. Im more interested in finding older stuff rather than newer coins at a playground,etc. Anyways if anyone from this area has any suggestions i would appreciate it. Also Ive been having trouble finding info on what is or isnt allowed here in the carrollton/dallas area as far where i can metal detect. Anyways Im excited about getting into this and I look forward to talking to more of you

Hi Russell - welcome to the never ending surprises of what you'll find detecting. Playgrounds, parks, your yard, etc are good for learning the detector though and handy when time is limited. Sue

try the swimming areas at the lakes around dallas or you could go to benbrook to the beach and hunt there.(they have some good plunder at those swimming areas)
