Hi to everyone, I am brand new to treasure hunting and excited about giving it a try. Retirement is just a few years away and I thought that this would be a great hobby to get me outdorrs and keeping up with the exercise. I have a brand new Whites coinmaster pro for beach hunting here in the San Francisco area and I just purchased an older Compass Yukon 77B for gold in the sierra foothills. I'll be reading up on the forums for advice on how to develop my skills, keep my equipment in good working order, and for places to go treasure hunting.  Thanks for letting me participate.

Welcome to the group smelnicki.   That's two good detectors you've got and a beautiful area to hunt in.    Who knows what you can turn up in San Francisco--especially if you can get permission to hunt some of the few empty lots in the older parts of town.

Welcome smelnicki from Utah! I used to work for a few months out there in SF, and what a lovely city it is (for tourism especially). I love the italian-district and Chinatown!  Grin
It's all about the food! Anyway, certainly practice on the beaches and get used to swinging your m/d for an hour to get an idea of how much effort it's going to take. Digging into the dirt/grass takes a bit more work to do, but in some cases is worth the reward.
We're looking forward to hearing your treasure finds from out there!
