Hello all members.

I am a new user and also new to detectoring. I am waiting for an operation in mid November and have acquired a metal detector in anticipation of being able to walk unaided about 6 weeks later. I am also interested in the so called 'Yamashita's Gold' as I have a friend in the Philipines who has a large tract of land and who has been excavating for some months; lots of signs but no finds.

I found a link where I might join a group of others interested in Yamashita's Gold and sent a message to Christian asking to join but no response as yet. Can someone point me in the right direction to join that group please?

Personally I wish to explore my own area in and around Cardiff (Wales) where there are many Roman and Norman remains not least of which is the permanent fort at Caerleon.

Hello, Stuart.   

     Welcome to THunting.com.   When it comes to access to the special board, have a bit of patience, please.  Christian is the right person to contact, but is a bit tied up at the moment, so it is taking him a little longer than usual to respond.   In the meantime, you should find a lot of Yamashita information down in our Legendary Treasures board.    You'll also find a lot about your area and about metal detecting/treasure hunting in general.

Have fun and let us know if you have any specific questions you can't find the answers to.

Many thanks for the swift response. Forgive me if I seem impatient but after waiting a week for a reply I wondered if I had directed my message appropriately.

I am also trying to find my way around this amazing site but sometimes seem to go around in circles; a bit like treasure hunting perhaps?
