Hi,

I'm new to treasure hunting and hope to learn from you guys what it is all about. How to get started. What you need to know. Why do it.

Should I find it interesting, you will hopefully hear more from me; otherwise I will slowly dissappear in obscurity and look for something else.

I love the outdoors (birding; amateur photography; trail running; hiking).

Hello, Hendrik.    Welcome from Arizona.   We've got quite a few of your countrymen here.   With your other interests, metal detecting should be a natural----especially if you also have an interest in history.   I'd suggest you scan through our various Finds boards and also read some the postings in the Beginners' board.   That will give you an idea on what awaits you.    Like most other hobbies, including photography and birding, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
