welcome from chicago buddy,as far as a 'tector that really depends on yer price range,new or used.....i've been water hunting for the past couple years and i'm swinging a minelab excal 2 but i'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback

Am reading all beginner stuff here a lot to digest...once decided upon machine most likely will be hunting in Panama City Beach FL. and surrounding beaches...
