Hey all. Another extremely newbie here. Kind of came about this by accident as last weekend I handed a friend of mine two diamond ring while at a cottage and low and behold they disappeared somewhere. Now the search is on as soon as my metal detector lands. Lets hope for the best. Glad to be along for the ride.

Howdy, wheelz3333.   Sorry to hear about the rings, but getting into the hobby can be great no matter why you start.

I just bought a Teknetics Omega 8000 with the 11" DD coil for the job. There is a bunch of sand that has to be searched and I hope this will do the trick. Anyone used this kind before or have any pointers for me?

You shouldn't have any problems with that detector as long as you read the manual (key step many people miss).....then dig every signal no matter what the display says at least until you're sure how signals in that particular stretch of sand react.   Because of shape, you may hear each of the rings as 2 signals rather than one---another reason to dig all the signals.
