Hey guys,

Thanks for all of the great information and for making me feel so welcome. I got the detector assembled last night, tuned and learned how to use the different modes as well as getting some starter tools. My goal tonight is to search the local dog park, as that area used to be owned by one of the first settlers of the area in the late 1800's and then I will go out to the beach Sunday evening before dark and see what people have left for me... Smiley

Once again, thanks for all of the great advice, lists, links and just general well wishes! I will report my first findings when I have something to report, good or bad!

Hi Karl,

Wow, quite an extensive list there, thanks a million! I didn't get to hit anything as hard as I liked, I was more or less giving the BH 505 a test run. An area I thought would be a "gold mine" actually ended up being party central, I kept on getting readings of Silver, quarter and dime, it turned out to be a 1' X 1' piece of sheet metal at 10". This was with Auto Notch mode on. After that, I entered discrimination mode and found "Silver" again, which was an old club soda can at 8". After that we got a hit on a zinc penny and a 1998 Dime. That was in about an hour.

I plan on hitting the local beaches tonight after work.

By the way Karl, how close are you to Cosby, TN? My father lives there!
