Whites M6

Go Up Go Down

Hello, Everyone! My first time posting on this site, which I found by lucky accident Clapp. And today I did my first 'treasure hunt' with my first metal detector, a White's M6 purchased on Ebay  Detecting. It works great... I found 3 bottle-caps, a 6" piece of pipe, several large pieces of sheet metal and pieces of cast-iron piping. I was searching in and around concrete foundations of a Residential School, Boy's and Girl's Dormitory... buildings long gone... in a heritage park in Mission, BC. I didn't find anything of value, but I did collect the trash and dispose of it all so I feel good about cleaning up the park just a little. (maybe some here can answer for me... I found plugs from previous hunters who put the junk metal back in the hole... why would they do this? Is this common practice?)
Anyway, I hope to visit often and learn lots, and maybe share a success sometime soon  Great.

Howdy  keithcris!!!! welcome from a fellow canuck, I live in Alberta Smiley

Sounds like you had a fun day learning your machine Smiley  I am not sure why someone would go through the work to dig a plug, then put it back. Unless there were multiple targets in the hole and they were just missing things.   I dig every blip that I come across as most of our coinage doesn't read the same way American coins do.   I also dig everyone cause I wanna know what it is Smiley   Maybe the novelty of digging everything will wear off, but so far it hasn't Smiley

Good luck in your hunts, this  site is great for answering newbie questions, and I should know, I have asked a few of them Smiley

Big welcome from south of the border (Kansas). to answer the big question, No. Placing the trash back in the hole is not common practice. It is very bad practice! You are off to a great start and the way you conduct yourself in the field makes you a great ambassador for the MD community. For now keep digging them all 'til you get to know what your machine is telling you. Poptop!

It actually Hurts.    All You have to do is Remember The 12 year Friends and family members you put in a Cool Place.   Sniffle Sniffle.

I've found two over the years.

I just tuck them back in as best I can and say Good Buy.

You Ment Something to Someone.

Ah, sorry man.   Getting attached to my pets was hammered out of me long ago.   I learned never get too attached to a pet, too much heartbreak when they go.   Funny though, my favorite cat was the meanest crankiest kitty this side of out border.  She attacked kids, men, women, dogs , other cats  and anything else that came near her....except for me, she would snuggle me, and then my son when he was born....but no one else.   Sad day when she got into some mouse poison the landlord put down after he told us he wasn't going to.

to CC: That's some Kitty... pick up a copy of The Hunger Games (the book). It's not just for teenagers. You will recognize your cat.
