Tesoro DeLeon

Hello all, I'm relatively new to this hobby, my father used to take me out when I was younger he used an old whites don't recall the exact model. I purchased a Tesoro DeLeon and started hunting the old sites he used to take me to, my wife soon accompanied me on a couple excursions and was soon asking to try it, long story short the detector bug bit her as well and soon took over my detector, telling me that the DeLeon was hers and for me to get one of my own.......LOL Now I'm trying to decide on another detector and narrowed it down to either the Fisher F5 or the Tesoro Vaquero. I understand one is Target Id and one is not my dilemma is build quality/durability, I've read some reviews concerned about the B.H. buyout of Fisher and in short to summarize I like the Target Id but if it means sacrificing build quality and or depth for Target Id then I would rather not have it. Would love to hear from owner of both machines and their experience with them, I don't have a dealer close to inspect or try out before I buy so I'm relying on input from owners/users of both these detectors.

Thanks,
Coyote65

Howdy, Coyote65.   Welcome to THunting.com.

I haven't used either of the detectors you are considering, but I have read a lot about them and talked to users of both.  Both are highly recommended by the majority of their users.   So far, First Texas Product has done a pretty good job of preserving the reputation and integrity of the Fisher line.   Tesoro has a reputation for building rugged, dependable detectors.  Most of the user reviews I've read list the Tesoro slightly above the Fisher (5 stars vs 4.5)

Thanks for the welcomes and quick responces I also read reviews ranking the Tesoro slightly over the F5, which is causing some of the dilemma I like the Target Id on the F5 but with the Tesoro, taking from reviews it sounds to be a good durable machine that most are very happy with.

Thanks to all of you for the info, I've decided to go with the F5, it has some features I really like and after reading helpful comments and taking into consideration my hunting habits the F5 seems to be the one for me. Thanks for the info and I look forward to sharing stories as well as reading the stories and wealth of info here at THunting.
