New to MD'ing. Did a little research and decided on the AT Pro. Used all 5 GB of my "UNLIMITED" data on AT&T watching how to videos before it got here. Unpacked it last night and went outside to see what kind of treasure was around the house. Decided rather quickly that when they built this house they laid down a layer of Coca Cola cans then covered with 4" of fill dirt. Quit digging after the 7th coke can. I work a wierd schedule and won't have time to go play with it elsewhere until Thursday and Friday. Can hardly wait! Gonna run out to one of the local lakes where my son has a cabin and check around the water's edge. He is also the Fire Chief there so I can check out the area around the FD and the old Lake Store that has been torn down.

That sounds like a great plan. Old buildings and old watering holes have brought me luck. Good luck, and don't let the trash digging part get you down. It's just part of the hobby we have to accept if we are to find the good stuff.  Welcome

Very good choice.   You'll like it.   By the way, don't automatically assume the next target that sounds like a coke can is one -- you could be leaving behind a nice, large silver coin.

Totally jealous of the AT Pro. I could only fork enough out for the Ace 350.  I am experiencing the same thing in my yard.  I don't mind digging lots of targets but I am learning that pinpointing is not so easy.  I'd like to blame it on the DD coil but I think its really just my rookie status that is the problem.  My pinpointing is causing me to create trenches in my backyard instead of plugs.  Oh well at least it my yard and not somewhere public. Best of luck hunting and welcome from eastern Washington.

Welcome from northeastern Oregon!   Welcome   Good luck with the hunting!  Also,  be sure to read your manual several times to familiarize yourself with the operations and functions of your detector.  Then get out there and use it.  Practice!  Practice!  Practice!   That is how you learn!   Great
