Fisher 1266

Well, let me start by saying that I really like silver! Coins, tokens, bullion, medals, and jewelry, The older it is the more I enjoy it.
My name is Jason, I'm 31, and I just moved from eastern Kentucky to St. petersburg, Florida. I'm new to hunting on the sandy beaches here and I could really use some ideas on where/how to best detect on a beach. I use an older Fisher 1266-X and I love it. Not really comfortable or familiar with it on the beach though. Any thoughts on settings or adjustments are welcome. I know that personal opinions and preference is most of it, but I am still open to anything you post. My best find is probably......1914-d lincoln cent and an early 1900 silver tug-o-war medal. The penny was in rough shape, but it's real. The medal is a lil nicer but heavily tarnished. Pics will come later. Thanks and sorry for the long post!!!

Welcome to the forum Jason!

As for the beach hunting tips I'd suggest checking out the forums

and if you don't find what you're looking for making a separate thread for this topic.

But just read the beach. Where do people sit, where do they swim, where would the current drag all of the stuff and settle (look for those lines of seaweed and garbage).
Scoops and Pin pointers are a must! Don't be afraid to scratch your coil, get it right down to the sand. Turn the discrimination way down and most of all dig it all!

Hi Jason, looking forward to some pictures.  (And Goonies gave you the best advise possible.   Search through what's already been written and then ask questions.   You might also want to search the sub board on your specific detector).
