Hey guys. My name is Kenny from the little town of Warm Springs, GA home of the Roosevelt Polio Clinic. I recently purchased a Fisher F5 detector and am not sure if I am using it correctly. When detecting it is clear until I reach a target (of course). Sometimes it is on the target and will quickly stop humming when I pass the object...others times the screen goes nuts jumping from multiple targets with wild chatter. Other times it will just hold onto an item on the screen such as [TAB] and this will not go away even when I continue to hunt elsewhere. Has anyone figured out the issue or is there a recall?
Thanks so much and I look forward to seeing what exciting things are being found around the world.

Hey, Kenny, welcome to THunting.com.

Two Things:

1) did you go through the initial set up routine when you got the F5 ?
2) what settings/mode are you operating with?

Thanks for the reply.

 (Metal Detector FISHER F5)

I did go through the initial set up and Ground balance as suggested. I can be searching along and all of a sudden it will start flipping through every metal type and bleeping many different signals...and continue this no matter where I move the detector. It is not like it is on any specific thing...it just goes crazy. Then I will shut the machine off and reset. But it happens often. Keeps me guessing if it even works well. lol
Thanks so much for the time to help me. I am new at this and any direction is greatly appreciated.  Angry
