Hi Barry

The higher frequency the better it will detect gold but you will lose out on depth. Making a better coil for it will not be an easy task you will have to reveres engineer the detector, you will need to know things like wire gauge and inductance for starters. If I were you I'd start with a new build but before you do that you need to know where you are going to be using it, what type of soil (High in minerals or not) do you intend to look for gold, are you going to use it at the beach, and so on, once you have all those parameters we will be able to help you make a choice.

All the best
Xavier

Thankyou Xavier & all who have made suggestions ,,,,
After perusing the site for quite a few hours i feel a TGSL KIT & or Board would be my best option as you say better to build a proven circuit ..& in our gold feilds [8 hour from my home] it is very mineralized ground I believe ..
YES Silver dog is on holidays ,But I will order a board as soon as pos..
In the meanwhile I ordered some winding wire for coils to have a go at 1st coil making a DD coil to suit the TGSL ..

I will post my progress as I go ..

CHEERS TO ALL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BARRY.. Wink Smiley

 Smiley Great stuff Barry

I think that you have made an excellent choice with the TGSL I also build one but I did not order the kit because I wanted the dual audio to be on the main board, I did not want a piggyback board for the dual audio. The DD coil is a very good choice too and once you have it working like you want it to, then build a concentric coil for it. The TGSL is a great machine and with the right size coil will find you gold.

All the best
Xavier
