You could have made a lot worse choices for a first detector
My best suggestion to you would be read the manual a few times and then go out and hunt. Then come back and read the manual again. Also spend a lot of time reading old posts here, especially in the Beginner section and in any forum that catches your interest. Don't be afraid to ask questions either by replying to an existing thread if your question is relevant or starting a new thread with a new post. If you post it the wrong place, don't worry--one of us will move it to a more appropriate location.
