Funny that you should say that Carl, there are a few that I could not get in plastic TO92 like the 2n4391 that I use in the place of the J107 that I could not find.

Hi .
ok frends . the schematic I use is correct but whene wee use different compenents in two identic pcbs"improuved pcbs" it works correctly with others not with me. and I made many electronic projects not only metal detectors . so I find that my problem is in the Oscilator block as Mr Eugene said . you can chek Tesoro Eldorado schematic there is a small difference betwin TGSL and Eldorado" the only difference is 22nf-------------47nf,220 nf ---------------------470nf to get the rigth oscilation for Eldorado 10khz.
Now if you look at the schematic of eldorado you see that there is some missing compenents in the  TGSL oscilator block.
diodes 1n4148. a749 or 4.3v / resistors 330k.100k/capacity 220nf/Tr tis75 or bf245 or j107
why this compenents are ommited from TGS schematic and keeped in all of the most in tesoro Eldorado versions?
one important thing/ I'm not the only man hwo found that problem -6.45 not -5v

Hello everyone.
My problem with TGSL machine is that when you turn the detector beeps constantly when the probe come near metal sound stops. All of this seems wrong, where did I go wrong.
Do not repeat the scheme see that there are here, here is a picture of the components.

Did you make sure that you have all the transistors the right way round? there is a difference between the plastic case and the metal case transistors so you should always download the data sheet to make absolutely sure that you component is correctly fitted.

Well now you do not know either, it is possible that these are the transistors because nowhere is it written precisely to be used and which are on schedule.
I tried both of them (metal and plastic) I watched the characteristics of transistors but I still have the same problem, the detector beeps constantly and stops when the coil approaches the metal. It may not be a problem coil or connecting RX-TX.

I don't want to sound funny but did you get the data sheet for your transistors? if not you will not be able to check that you have them connected correctly, you have to look that the collector goes to the corresponding component on the PCB using the schematic as reference then the emitter and last the base.

Yes I was thinking about it last night in bed, it seems that the BC547 (TR2) is getting a voltage to base in other words is turned on all the time, the voltage is coming from the LM358 (U107a). What you could try is to remove U104 to see is it has stopped if not replace it and remove U105 if it still has not stopped then you will know that the problem is with the LM358
