I am Master Chief, an active Duty Navy E9. I am so glad this site is up and running as I have recently paid to join Treasurenet and now it is non operational, so I hope all the activists move over to this site. Does anyone know if TN is going to be back up? Undecided

I am in the middle of moving to Texas so I will post more after my move. Feel free to contact me if you are in texas and want to get together to MD.

As much as I love San Antonio and the Hill Country, I live in Arizona now. But I was born and raised in the area and know it well. And yes, there's a lot to search for in the San Antonio and in the Hill Country. The European presence in the San Antonio area dates back to the 1690's with the first permament European settlement dating to around 1718. As for the Hill Country, for most of the period from the days of the Texas Republic through the immediate post-civil war era, the Hill Country (basically Bandera to Llano) was the frontier of Texas. It has a very heavy German/Chech/central european immigrant makeup, so you'll often find mid-european relics as well as ones made here following the same pattern. A whole lot of history took place within 150 miles of San Antonio. (and there's a wide range of terrain included in that circumfrence, too).
