 Welcome to MD.
Sure wish I was close to all that sand. Makes me jealous of all the possibilities.

Cannot get more basic than the Harbor Freight model. But something to be learned from even the most basic model. Will make you want something a little more responsive, a little deeper detection. Ah but that is why we dream and makes the hobby fun.

Reminds me of a old "Argus 3 camera" I once had.

How?

The most basic camera you could own. No bells are whistles. Hard to learn to use.
But after I mastered that years ago photography with any other camera was a snap.
All the settings made sense and where easy to apply from camera to camera. Great learning curve.

Learn good habits and fill your holes and enjoy MD for a lifetime.

Love my Garrett ACE 250 for the dry sand and AT Pro for water and surf.
