Well I have been coming to this site for over a year now and it's great. I am a newbie and do not own any equipment yet. It says I need to post 5 times to become a full member, but that's hard if
you are new and have no experience . I am trying to decide what detector I should buy by reading all the posts. I am also looking for a good book on the subject as well.
Thanks,
Tolkon

Hey Tolkon Welcome From Texas

You will get 5 post in no time just read some post and commit on the ones that are useful to you.

There are so many good books but you can't go wrong with The Treasure Hunters Manual # 6 or #7 by Karl Von Mueller

Hey, Tolkon.....Seldom is correct.   Getting 5 posts is easy (and educational).   I suggest start with the Beginners board and begin reading the previous postings.  You'll get a wealth of information about choosing a detector (and using it ) that way.  You'll also find that you want to comment on some of the post, or they may spur you to post a question of your own.  Either way, you'll have 5 posts in no time.

BA in Arizona  welcomes you to the group.

Hello Tolkon and Welcome to the Forum . You will have 5 posts in no time . Just let us know what areas you plan to Metal Detect on , like beaches , old houses or old parks , schools and then we can decide what machine is best for you . Whites has 2 new machines out , Garrett has one new model out and all of them are inexpensive with some great features  .  Best of Luck .

HH.........Eugene

Well I really do not want to limit my hunting to just one area like parks or beaches. I would like to be able to hunt anywhere including water. I have about $1400 to spend but want to do a lot of research before I purchase one.
