FISHER 1265X - garrett gtp 1350
« on: August 13, 2010, 04:07:15 pm »
Go Up Go Down

My name is Tom Glover. I am from Hamilton, New Jersey and been in the hobby since the late 1960's in the BFO era. My first quality detector was a Fisher 552 D. I also did testing for Chuch Newman when he and Wilson had the "Daytona GBD" series. I tested it, along with the Usika Brave. I have owned a White's Coin Master (TR), a White's Eagle which lied like the dickens when I passed over a pull tab, a Garrett TR (Forget the model, but a nice unit), and am currently a Fisher 1265 X and Bounty Hunter Discovery owner. I haven't been as active as I was in the 70's and 80's. At 77 years of age, I'm slowing down a bit, but I do hope to latch on to a more state of the art unit, if I can find one that surpasses the incredible 1265 X which has brought me countless great finds. I still have a Daytona GBD for which I need parts. It was converted to a hip mount for my testing purposes, but I want to revert back to the standard assembly. The GBD was a very deep seeker, and still is.I am the local historian at the Hamilton Township Public Library. Visit my website at

Hi Tom from Jim in CT. USASA huh? Same here...33B20,40. 32C TS/crypto w/si. Chitose, Hokkaido KA9MF KA9JC, Pyong Taek HL9TJ . Dam% that was a lot of fun. Sort of miss it. The first american killed in Viet Nam was Sp/4 Davis, a 98J ASA man!
You got a few on on me on the detecting. Been detecting since 72. WA3APC since 64 or so. I've messed a bit with the newer machines and have to say I always had good results with the older ones. Had a Whites 5DB that would do dimes at 12" in the SW PA farm dirt!

You will have to post some of your finds for the gang here.

This is a cool site. You will enjoy it.

Many thanks for the warm welcome. I am sending a photo of some of the silver I have found over the years. From old 3 cent pieces to a seated Liberty half dime to numerous large copper cents which do not do well in Jersey soil in my area. Currently learning pinpointing on a GTP1350 Garrett which I purchased a month or so ago. I really prefer the old concentric coil instead of these confusing illyptical coils.
