We only have to look at other professions, or hobbies, to answer that question. All it takes is a sign on the door and you are in business. That's right, just say you are a treasure hunter and poof, your a treasure hunter.
Example, take a look at a police officer. They go through some training, Boy Scouts are better qualified, they get the sign on the door, the badge, and poof they are the experts in law enforcement. We all know that anyone who is 30 years old or older is better qualified than the new officer, but he doesn't have that badge. That badge grants the officer the right to be better qualified and more truthful in court. The officer can speed down the road and make better life and death decisions too.
I know it's all bull, and most so called other professions are just the same, hot air at best. But when it comes to treasure hunting, it is truly all about how you see yourself, no badge required. Yes, if you have the heart to be a treasure hunter, no one can dismiss your fate.
Professional or hobbyist, the treasure hunters world is the same in every corner. From yardsales in Pittsburgh, to scuba diving off the Florida coast, or sifting you way through Peru or Africa, the treasure hunter is one who lives for the adventure, and the promise of the find.
Yes I am a treasure hunter and know some real serious guys in the business. We all carry the same title but with different monetary results. But it is not all about the "X". The journey is what make us who we are and how this life enriches our time.
Treasure hunting is a collective effort, not a solitary one. Sharing the adventure is part of the package. Besides, no one treasure hunter knows all. He must rely on others for their expertise and skills at times, and he must also be willing to share his own talents.
I surely could take up some more screen bytes and talk all day on treasure hunting, but I do have some pressing issues to deal with. What I did want to do is to say hello and I am glad to have the opportunity to be a part of this websites group. So thanks for the invite and I am looking forward to many discussions of my favorite kind.
Here's to good living and the pucker factor,
Roy
P.S. Where is the spell check on this thing...
