Hello Everyone,
   I am new to this site and have a little experience with metal detectors.  I live in the Houston area and would like to meet with others in the area.  I have gone to the beach a few times and like that but would like to explore other areas.

Howdy, I'm in Houston. Just in what sounds like the same boat as you. So far just hit the beach a little and parks. No big finds yet. Thinking about joining a local metal detector club. May be able to get access to some better spots. Really need to get down to the beach more. I know there's gold out there. I just need to spend more time hunting. So far my biggest find was a small silver ring and pocket change. Did find a couple oddities.
At the beach a while back

And the other day found a 1966 half franc in a park.

Thats some nice copper sheathing you found. I can see were the wrought irons nails went thru it for the hull. very cool find!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Open pretty much all week days monday through thursday, since I am retired. Week ends according to what my wife plans.  Tongue She works 4 days a week. With the lakes down I hit a small swimming area up at Lake livingston friday. Nothing to brag about. About $1.20 in change, 20 + fishing weights, brass faucet handle used as a weight, and one zippo lighter. The shell is still in good shape so I'll probably send it in for the free repair/replacement. Thinking about checking out some other lake swimming areas.
