Hi Johnnn

I used that kind of moulding rubber but mine was white did you put a pigment in it or did you get it that colour?

Hi Xavier,
The rubber is white, but I give the mold a puff of graphite powder to help release the casting it works really well but discolours the rubber....I,m currently looking for other items to "clone"........HH........Johnnn

Well that puff of graphite gives it a great look and it's a great idea for a release agent you should even be able to copper plate it with that graphite on it.

Hi,
Making lead castings looks like it could be fun. What type of rubber is used for the molds and where can it be found? I have access to plenty of old lead and it looks like something I would be interested in trying. Great idea using graphite as a release agent. I will have to remember that.

Hi Del Tin,
You can enquire at a hobby shop they should be able to stear you in the right direction, its quite inexpensive and a lot of winter time fun.
Another idea has come to me, patina agent from a "stained glass" shop would do well for changing the colour of these castings...HH........Johnnn
