Only advice that I can give you is check everything and make sure that you have no short on the PCB. I had a similar problem with the DBP2010 and it took me days to find the problem a cat whisker between two tracks. Also make sure that you have all the transistors the right way round.

All the best to you and hope you come right

Do you have any test equipment or access to some? An oscilloscope and digital multimeter would be very helpful.

All the above.

Go over it like your just putting in all the bits and parts.

Be sure all is in the correct orientation.

Look for solder bridges that could be shorting out power.

Insure power is getting to all the Chips.

 Cool

Hi Xavier,

Thanks for your kind reply.  I will check as you suggested.  Will get back to you if I identify the issue and fix it..

Hi Gold Digger,

I do have a digital multimeter but no  O scope... please suggest what I could do with the multimeter....

GD is better at this but I would start insuring that your power supplies are providing all chips with the required voltages.

Check the voltage out puts on the Regulators  and see if your getting what you need.

Check all chips to see if they are getting what they need on the appropriate pins.

After that, if you have Test point voltages check them too.

I know nothing on this circuit but that is what I would try.

Hi Homefire,

Thank you for the reply.  I could do that for sure... but the only catch is I dont know any reference voltages at certain points.  Hopefully someone in this forum could help me on this.

You do have the schematic?

I would just start by checking the Regulators (MORE THEN ONE?)  for output.

Then move on to each chip and check there Voltage and ground legs .

If that all looks good then you may or may not have a component problem.

It may just be as simple as set up wrong. Cool

If you do not have the schematic then download the data sheet for the IC's on your board

http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets_pdf/1/6/F/8/16F877.shtml

Then check if the voltage comes to the Pos and Neg of the IC .I never place the IC's on the board before having checked the voltages. You could make a test probe this one will work great I know I have one

you could also get a PC scope NOT good for any frequency above 20Khz but that's what I used till I could afford to buy a real scope.

Hope this will help some

You can do a bit with a multimeter but you'd only be able to do static readings. Better than nothing but an O'scope would be very handy.

Now, a critical question. Is this a new build or a failure on a machine that worked at one time? What to check after you answer is very different for each scenario.
