Rider  want pirates closer to home ?  about 150 years , pirates operated up and down the Ohio river.  look for small rivers or streams that empty into the Ohio river.  follow them to the gulleys, caves , and rock bluffs that are numerous up and down the river.  USE a 12" or larger coil. i use my ADS 7 w/ 12" coil.  i have found three caches in twenty years... two small and one excellent .   there are thousands waiting to be found.   GOOD HUNTING !!!!

Congrats on finding the caches. River pirates. I always thought of pirates at sea, but makes sense that they could operate anywhere.

Rider  yeah... i enjoy the tales of the sea , but 99.9 % of us dont have the time or money to search for those types of caches.  River pirates would attack the river boats , especially where there was a bend in the river or canals.  this is treasure  we can find with alot or research and a little hard work.  check  newspapers and old lawmen reports from about 1700 thru 1890.

Rider  yep!  chicago  to  the east coast area.  another angle is the old rr tracks in your area.  sales people in the old days used landmarks to "stash" small cches.  look for old rr markers, bridges, any place you might consider putting a stash .  small bdidgeswere a favorite, especially the ones made of stone.
