So I contacted Accurate Locators to review a purchase of their blanket antenna and PI detectors. No referrals or otherwise confirmation from a client that their product works. I really want to speak with someone who has purchased this system and see if it is right for my project.

I want to work the large tailing piles from river dredges here in California as well as look for pocket gold location as we live right on top of the Motherlode near Coloma.

Anybody?

From a practical standpoint, no metal detector will allow you to find small gold in a tailing pile. Anyone who tells you differently is dreaming. The success rate is very high for hard labor in digging through the rubble looking for the small stuff they missed. Some of these piles are hundreds of yards in height with literally thousands of tons of material. To find a missed nugget in that stack of rocks is not an easy task.

The easiest way, in my opinion, is to search along the bottom edges of the heaps with your current metal detector and see if you can find any concentrations of small nuggets having been washed down by rain and erosion. Then work your way up the pile with your detector and maybe even pan some of the dirt around where you found any.

There is no magic wand, mate. Sorry. Just hard work.

These are very large rock DREDGING piles, most 6" and larger. Not mine tailings.

Looking for the big one(s) that went down the conveyer and got missed. Not looking for small gold. I am working the smaller tailing piles from pocket mines locally with success (see signature). These are miles and miles of large rock piles to work.

Even a car is undetectable from a few feet away, mate. Trust me. There is no easy way and no magic wand. They didn't miss any large boulders full of gold.

They why, pray tell, ask for advice? If you don't need it, just order your magic wand. End of story. Good luck, mate.

Mate, I was hoping for an experienced response.  Angry

So your comment states that Accurate Locators are scamming people selling their goods? Why didn't you just say so and be done with it?

Did I say I was looking for "small gold"? You must be thinking of small river dredges. These dredges had buckets the size of a truck.

Did you even read my post?

Are you familiar with the Dredging operations in Snelling, Folsom and Yuba City California and the equipment used? Have you read the reclamation report done by UC Berkeley? Have you walked on these piles?

Have you spoken with local MD people to confirm your statement.

I have, baseball size rocks with gold. Hmmm.

Thanks.
I'll take my questions to another site. Been fun for a very short time, but if your a Global Moderator, you must have done it all.
How do you cancel your membership here?

Later Mate.

I am tired of your pm's and tired of your whining because you don't get the answers you want SORRY.

No I will not delete your account if you don't want to be here just don't log on

I spent 20+ years living and working in Southern California before I moved here to Australia. I am a life member of the GPAA and the moderator for the prospector's forum here. I do know what I am talking about. Sorry you took offense to well meaning advice. Like I said, if you don't really want advice, please don't ask for it. You confuse others here who might actually read this thread and understand what I'm getting at.

Believe two things which I have already told you. It is unlikely that anyone missed large boulders full of gold no matter what your imagination tells you. The second is that there isn't a detector around that will find gold if you point it at a hillside full of rocks. You will have to do the hard yards to get any left over gold. Is there gold there? Absolutely. Is it in great quantities? Nope, but with today's prices, even small amounts are good.

Go forth and prospect.

No one said they were a scam we said that their product is not designed for what you want it for
