GeoCommunicator was the ticket on stuff like that.

It Clamped off all the usable stuff for the little guy Feb 24th .

Only way to do it now is LR 2000 and a trip to the BLM office or Office of County Recorders.

That was a bummer (the whole geocom thing). Anyhow, I am looking forward to your input. Right now I am considering persuing an unlcaimed piece in the Boise Basin. What books do you recommend for someone trying to stake their own claim?

Cheers

Sean

I don't know of any books.  All the information required is on the NET!

1. Get your self a TOPO of the area in question.

2. Check with the BLM or any other Entity to verify the area in question is in fact Open for Mineral Location.

3. Go to the County Recorders Office and check for existing claims in your area of interest.  Document any and all       Adjacent Claims and

Obtain a copy of the Records.   You may need this stuff.

4. Get your boots on the ground and sample, sample and sample some more.

If in fact you think you have something,  Keep your Proof of Discovery.  They have been known to ask for this from time to time.

Most of the time the BLM will just take your money and could give a rats butt if there is a existing claim or not.  They Keep the

money any ways.  People Over File on claim all the time.  If the current claim owner defaults or is late on any paper work the claim

    becomes theirs.

5.  Initiate your claim process as outlined in the BLM guide and Don't even think about missing any Steps or Dates.

Record the Claim with the County Recorders Office for the Area.  Again Verify No other Claims exist! If your claiming on a

Relinquished or Closed Claim, obtain the records from the BLM and have them attached to your Claim File.

Upon acceptance by the BLM (This is your Stamped Copy of the Forms) , Beet Feet out to YOUR Claim and Post your Monuments

     and Papers.  Photograph every thing.

Follow Any and All RULES.  DO YOUR ASSESMENT AND IMPROVEMENTS.   DON'T MISS ONE STEP.

In about three months time, go back to the BLM and see if anyone has files on top of you and watch them like a Hawk. LOL!

Thanks. I am seriously considering staking a claim. It isn't gonna be anything special, probably just a dry claim where I can run my nice drywasher for a few months out of the year all to myself.

Cheers

Sean

Better to use open land or expired claims. Clubs are best of all and inexpensive (for the most part) Anything new on the record will bring a crowd right to you.
