It would help to know where in the US you are.....if you are in the Southwest, Rockhound State Park outside Deming, New Mexico is worth checking out.   There is also an area outside of Quartzsite, Arizona where you can rockhound and nugget shoot (

Yep we gotta know where you are at.  Tons of great spots up here in Oregon especially for rock hounding and a little fossil collecting
