Go Up Go Down

Hello everyone. My family and I are going to Cali this summer for a wedding. I want to take my boys gold panning somewhere after the wedding. I have no idea how to do it and would like a touristy type place to go. Somewhere preferably that teaches you, is kid friendly and you can rent equipment. I think the boys would love it. Anyone suggest a place to go learn?

I plan on bringing a Teknetics G2 or Fisher Gold bug pro to use if I can.

Thanks for you responses! Love to hear any and all suggestions!

Better yet, join the GPAA. They have some good specials going on now. Panning is easy, watch some youtube videos and the videos they send you with the membership and you should be well on your way to finding some color. I would be glad to assist you in any way, however logistics are somewhat in the way... I live in Washington state. You can definitely contact me any time for questions though.

Cheers

Sean

Why not take them to where it all started, Coloma! Gold Discovery Park. They have panning troughs set up for kids to pan in and they salt the troughs so everyone finds gold.

If your in the area, you can also pan just about any ditch, creek or bank and find color.

I don't want to give out any good locations but I will tell you guys about the American River Conservacy which has opened up a LOT of public land around here. Metal detecting is allowed.
