Go Up Go Down

Hi friends
I have been prospecting all over Wales for the past few years, and have been more and more focused in the last six. The big secret is slowly getting out there. The hills of Wales are full of undiscovered potential goldmines, scores and probably hundreds of rivers and streams have traces enough to make serious prospecting worthwhile. The official bodies should have informed farmers and other landowners that they had prospecting viability, but for political reasons this didn't happen. Hopefully a new attitude is possible, whereby dedicated detectorists and panners will be welcome in many Welsh river valleys to help near bankrupt farmers to diversify and possibly create a better climate of trust for treasure hunters of all breeds. We need to create an accountable club of good guys and gals to make this possible though.
Could be a very exciting project for the next decade.
Get involved if you want to be on the frontline.

Regs

Brian

Tsk, tsk Brian you should know by now that nobody in government is going to do anything for anybody unless there's something in it for them, it's the nature of the beast.

What you need to do is take the pulse of the community of farmers and see if they are amenable to having numbers of people tramping across their property for a price per head, per day and/or a percentage of the take.  A nice nuggy dropped in the gnarled palm of a hard working farmer might bring a smile to light up your day.

Once you know that they are with you you then have to form the farmers into a sort of cooperative and work out a deal that would grant your club exclusive rights that would guarantee them that their property would be respected and not trashed or overrun with nare-do-wells.

And of course you have to form your club or association with rules of comportment while on a farmers property.

I know you've probably thought of all this already but humor this old fart.

Gramps

Thanks for the good input Gramps. Indeed, farmers I have surprised with the good news weren't at all surprised that the government didn't tell them. It will of course take time to build a wider climate of trust and get benefits for all. It may become more about tourism and fun, rather than making a fortune, though a few farmers may truly strike it lucky, with the help of patient prospectors.

I agree nobodies going to get filthy rich but the farmers can at make a little something to supplement their meager earnings.  The big thing is to have a club or association in place that will assure the farmers their property and privacy won't be abused and the rough crowd that screwed things up for you elsewhere don't do it again.

Good luck to your enterprise,
Gramps

Ta Gramps
That's why I set up Gold Rivers Trust as a charity, because the private associations that exist are focused on personal profits that hardly ever come to anything. A group of friends and associates who engage their brain cells can achieve much more in the medium term than any individuals can do in the short term.
