Tell me all about idiots. I live near Chicago and we get snow every year throughout the winter with bouts of freezing rain, and these idiots finally figure out driving in the snow around late March. By the time the next winter rolls around they forget how to drive in it, and half the time act like they've never seen snow. I think the idiot-snow equation is pretty universal. I would think it's a little more crazy where snow and ice doesn't happen with regularity. Should I mount the Crash Gate on the truck before I head there?

I've tried the detector at Fain Park but never found anything. Rumor has it that this area is salted though and isn't a great spot because of that. I recommend going during the week if possible

It doesn't surprise me that you haven't found anything at Fain Park with the detector.   My understanding is that most of the gold that has come out of there is fines.   You also don't say what type of metal detector you're using.  Unless we're talking a much bigger nugget than I would expect to find in Fain Park, I doubt if I'd find any nuggets there using my Fisher F4 or my wife's White's Classic 5 iD or either of our Garrett GTA's.   I might reasonably expect to find something with my PI or with a Gold Scorpion or a Lobo SuperTraq, though.
