yes, Cheshire in the UK.
 no gold round here  Cry

but maybe some in Wales where my family lives.. I found a piece of quartz with some soft ironstone in it. I carefully picked out all the ironstone powder (seemed a bit like rotting wood crushed in a quartz vein )and made myself a small sluice pan from a small takeaway container. I'm sure there are some tiny tiny yellow flecks in it. I saved the little water, flecks and remaining iron particles and put them in a vial. ... now I've missed placed said vial  Cry but I remember where I found the piece of quartz where i used another rock to break it off. just need to locate the rest of it as it may have been washed away by the sea by now   Huh? oh well ... the joys of prospecting

Those are some nice picks ya got there fellas. Here is a pix of my smaller pick that I purchased at the Home Depot for under $10 US. It  has a fiberglass handle and only weighs a couple of pounds at most.  It definitely needs an upgrade. Grin

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Thanks John, but you might not have to.  A local business has quite a selection in store and online. Here is a link. The prices seem quite reasonable.
