Go Up Go Down

Headin down to Boise, ID this weekend to get my trommel and visit some family. I have big plans. The builder and designer for Summit Mining is gonna spend a day with me showing me the ropes on the new toy. Then off to the popular swimming spots to do some detecting. The drive is a long one, but I think if I plan it correctly, I can stop and detect and pan on the way down. Will try to post pics when I get back.

Peace

Sean

Trommels are awesome, If you work a full day on this particular trommel with a partner, and are in good shape you can run over two yards of gravel in a day. Watched a couple guys pull out 1/2 ozt. each from a spot in the Boise Basin on a 4 hr. work day... and they gave me a good chunk of their concentrates.

Peace

Sean

Still a lot of gold in that country. Guessing towards Idaho City? I have a spot up there planning to work some later this season. Can't be too far up though, still chilly up there....

Yeah... I'm not gonna work in the Boise Basin this trip, guess there is still a s**t load of snow up there. He was telling me about the creek just outside of town we can work if it isn't too muddy. Not as much gold, but it is still there and when you are mining, that seems to be important.

hehe yeah finding color seems to help the motivation for me.  Grin

And yes still a lot of snow, got more just a couple days ago. I also know a nice spot off I84 above La Grande, Oregon thats on your way. Unfortunately still under snow as well I'm sure. Undecided If you are a gpaa member they have a claim right on I84 near Lime, Oregon (between Baker and Ontario) thats got good gold. I panned some stuff from there years back when it was private owned and found some nice little nuggets. It's lowland so probably could work there if you are a member.

I am not a GPAA member. I am however a member of the Idaho Gold Prospectors, and the Bedrock Prospectors here in Washington. Seems like La Grande is low enough in elevation. Shouldn't be to much snow there.

Well its above La Grande a bit. Take Hilgard exit and head SW on 244 through the park. Turn left on Grande Rhonde River road and pass through Starkey, follow that about 30 miles till it Ys off. Grande Rhonde River road turns gravel and crosses left over the river, follow it about 5 or 6 miles and you will be in the Camp Carson Mining area. Nice spot full of old mines, tailings, and good primitive camping.

The right Y becomes Nat Forest Dev Road 51 and stays paved. It eventually leads to Granite and Sumpter and a hotspring.
