Just a comment. When I was a youngster, I'd spend hours walking the winderness in the SW US. I'd see the mine claim markers, often a pile of stones within would be a container of some sort with the mining claim inside. I enjoyed reading the claim then place it back where I'd found it. Included is a photo of one of the last ones I located. Thought some of you might enjoy seeing it as a part of history.

Many a good memory is associated with Prince Albert Tobacco cans! I don't use tobacco but we carried grasshoppers in those cans for fishing with. They were all over the place in the Warren Idaho area, although I don't remember finding any claim markers I'm sure they were there too.

Do you have Prince Albert in the can? Well you better let him out! Ah the good old days long gone.... Many thanks Richard! Smiley

Yep, Prince Albert cans, Mason Jars, Whiskey Bottles, Coffee Cans were the container of the days.

Now it's Acrylic Plastics, Aluminum and Titanium Tubes and Bottles. LOL!

LOL , not long ago I found a Aluminum Water bottle containing a paper copy of the Claim along with of all things a Flash drive.

I down loaded the flash drive and again found the Claim information including all past and current documents. All documents were updated about 6 months in the past.   This guy had his Poop Together for sure.

Photo's of the over all claim, Claim Monuments and markers,  before and after work photo's.

This guy had all his bases covered.

Times being the way they are, Kids maybe Not Kids love to destroy claim markers.    Cry

That Flash drive probably won't stay there too long if the wrong person finds it.   Shame, Shame.

Idaho Jones:   You brought back some memories for me also.  When I was only 4 or 5 years old we lived right beside the Rim To Rim bridge, for a few months. I used to scare the heck out of me, afraid I'd fall in the canyon... Later we stayed near Emmett while Dad was searching for some treasure or prospecting... Still later after I was married, my wife and I camped near Coeur d'Alene in August, woke up in the morning, our sleeping bag was covered with ice... Happy days. Thanks..

Thats a long drop Richard Smiley I can understand that fear. I still have yet to get farther north than Moscow but I want to see the lake one day soon. I live south of Nampa near the Snake River canyon.

Come to think of it a Prince Albert can and an old Coleman lantern was one of the first "treasures" I remember digging up as a kid. It was an old burned out cabin site on the SF of the Salmon river near my Gramma's claim, and I found an old can surely full of gold nuggets and coins and treasure. Ended up being full of mud! Fun days!

Homefire that's pretty cool, I thought using PVC posts was pretty high tech  Grin
