Wise  I recently bought a black gold pan. I tried panning some gold and found it hard to see because of the black sand. What color is better or does it just depend on the person using it? Thanks

I have a green pan  that I love to use and  it seems to work really well ! I had some large metal ones that I heat treated to get them darker in color, but they were to heavy to use and when you had them full you could not pan for very long. I like the green one with the riffles in the side as it seems to keep the flower gold from going out with the trash.
Thanks
Deaver

Well my 2 cents
I have used the old metal ones  and the plastic ones and I would swear by a Green  Garretts Gravity pan
Took less than half the time to pan and had great results  in colorado though
I have 3 or 4 around here even a square one  Buy imo  Garretts is best

Black, blue, green, copper and steel. The Garretts is also one of my favorites. You can raid the kitchen and use a fry pan and do pretty good. Smiley

Most people passing 3rd grade know that gold will not be attracted to a magnet!

I think you will like the green pan best, another thing to do is put a large steel washer the size of a silver dollar in the center of your  pan and place a high power magnet under the bottom of your pan to hold it in place and that will keep your black sand where you can handle it, right on that washer then work your gold to the edge of the pan. I do that when I have a lot of black sand where I am panning for gold. I guess washer size could vary, I just had a large one laying around and it works great.

Good Luck
Deaver

IseeGold-

My favourite colour is green, the yellow specks stand out like little lights. Another favourite is blue, I got one but don't like it as well as my use-browned steel Estwing 16 incher.

I want to try a Rotopan, going to get one Thur 18, June.

I like to pan until I see colors and I don't mean gold, I mean green (amphibole/pyroxenes), garnets, black sand, hematite chunks, etc., then throw it in a pail to take home and run  through a spiral wheel. When I see those red eyed garnets winking, its time to stop panning, save it, and get new gravel.

Green is good.
