It is a ripoff. You spend between $20 and $200 and you get $7 worth of gold... if you are lucky. The companies that sell paydirt, usually run some sort of large operation and sell the cons, or salt dirt with their finds. They can usually count on getting between 7 and 10X the spot price of gold selling it that way. You are better off waiting for summer and digging your own gold.

Sean

thank you for your response. i kind of thought that if someone had dirt with gold in it......they probably already ran it through something and then turn around and sell the after wash.. thanks again

Jen, I have to agree with Sean for the most part. However, I did buy some pay dirt 3 or 4 years ago. And if you really have the need to buy some, this is from my experience and a friend of mine. I bought 8 bags ($200) and he went over board with about $1,000. We both made about spot off the bags. I figured this was the way he was selling his gold. The guy is from Alaska and his website is below. You would be better off buying a Metal Detector if you don't have one, sorry I did not look at your profile. I am not sure I would trust anyone these days with pay dirt. If anyone out there had a bad experience with Felix, please sound off. Good Luck, John

Correction on my earlier post. I meant to say, "Between 7 and 10 times". My bad.

I do agree. I have bought paydirt from ebay to use as tool to learn how to pan and to test home made equipment.
It is still fun, but don't except to get for money back from gold found.

If nothing else, you can use the paydirt to help you figure out what the smallest amount of gold is you can detect with your metal detector under optimum conditions  Wink  (but I'd save that for the days when you're bored out of your skull and can't get to a decent hunt site)
