The easiest way is to go here and join the GPAA. You get lots of goodies for your first membership and a great big book of sites to use - The annual GPAA Mining Guide. They have a terrific magazine which will keep you motivated all year long. All their registered claims are maintained by the GPAA and you are free to use them as a member.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

i agree with gold digger....not really any public places in ga or nc for that matter    you will have to join some kind of club or find a pay to pan area there gpaa is as good as any and it comes with a good book to and free camping in any of there sites.....also you can run up to tn  around monroe county and prospect for free in the national forrest
