I went to Coker Creek, Tn this Memorial Day weekend and visited the welcome center there, The folks there were extremely friendly and helpfull, They supplied free maps of the area and gave directions to the government owned lands where all that is required to pan  is a free permit that can be obtained at the Tellico Ranger station. This was a stop on my way to Ashville NC, Where my father in law gave me some great history and a good "LOST GOLD" legend of the area. (He was a Forrest Ranger in the area for many years there) I will be back with toppos of the area, my panning gear AND the inside info from my father in law.

Homefire,
Coker Creek is in Southeast Tennessee on HWY 68 near the Tennessee/North Carolina border. This area is steeped in Cherokee, Pioneer, and Civil War folklore and has beautiful Vistas of the Tn,Ga,& NC mountains. All this is just 30 minutes from my home in Cleveland, Tennessee. I would not to live anywhere else in the world.
