Go Up Go Down

A few times on these forums I have mentioned a couple of books by Sam Radding which deal with prospecting equipment and how to build it yourself. I've owned two of his books since they first came out many years ago. When I searched for his books on the used book search engines, I found 8 in total and only two of the ones I was discussing. Two things occurred to me as I was doing this.

One, the books I am discussing are getting scarce and hard to find.

Second, the author, Sam Radding, gets nothing from the sale of a used book except a tingle in the middle of the night and as we all know, that isn't such a good feeling.

Being the resourceful person that I am, I found the publisher and rang them up. It turns out that Sam himself published his own books and is quite happily living in southern California. After an hour on the phone discussing all manner of things, I came to the conclusion that Sam is my long lost twin brother - separated at birth we were.

He's a genuine nice guy and I have invited him to join this forum to do two things. The first is to tell you where to buy his most amazing books on building your own prospecting equipment and the second is to contribute his vast knowledge of prospecting right here for all of us to use. I don't know what user name he will choose but be watching for him in the near future. Perhaps he'll be very clever and use Sam Radding as his user name.

One never knows!

One can hope.    Looking forward to it.  I've always enjoyed his plans when I've had the opportunity to study them

I would like to add his books to my collection. Not because I need any more gear, but I just like to build junk. I was thinking about getting the books and building some of the projects on video to post on this forum... time is my enemy on that one, so nobody get their hopes up.

Cheers

Sean

Three cheers for Sam Radding!!!  I have met him about ten years ago and found him to be fine people.  I bought both of his books from Pro Mack in Apache Junction, AZ and have built many of the designs in them.  I have become especially fond of the manual powered sampling dry washer and the gas blower powered dry washer.  I have also built a high banker powered by an old Milwaukee cast iron engine coupled to a washing machine water pump utilizing a home made foot valve.  I have also built many suction sticks, crevice tools, rockers, and 12 volt concentrators from Sam's books.  Sam's designs are easy to make and they work wonderfully!

I'm a COMPLETE newbie in this world of gold hunting, and searching for information on many subjects has been difficult at best... Reading this gives me hope; so off to the library I go... (high ho - high ho) Violent

I doubt that the library has them since they are printed by Sam himself as a private press. For less than $40.00 you can own both of his plan books. Well worth the cost. The link to his site is in Seldom's post above. Go on. Buy Sam a dinner out by purchasing his books.
