If you do a google search you will find several private companies that will assay ore. It will probably be rather costly. You could also go to college with geo dept to do an examination for free or small fee. Many colleges will help out so students can get hands on, depends on where you are at.
A thin section and/or inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometer could tell you more than a simple assay about the ore and many geo depts have this equipment. The ore would be sliced and examined by thin section under a polarizing microscope. This is what I do with samples of potential ore producing rocks.
The icp could tell you what percent every element scanned is in your rock. they crush and dissolve rock in hydrofluoric acid then put in scanner. Cost is based on how many materials you want to scan for. I know there are simpler methods but when prospecting I want to know more than just how much in the sample but the likely hood of it being a widespread deposit or if there are other valuable products in it,
