this is my story from the early nineties
from left to right.
Kevin Hillier.the lucky prospector that found the Hand of Faith.
My friend Con Boukis holding the nugget
my self. thinking that the foot of faith it must be closed by somewhere.
I have been looking for it for the last 20 years.....still looking
on the second picture Kevin today with a replica of the nugget and his old Garret detector that found the nugget with.

It was different times.
It was the operator that could find the gold. Not the detector. Unless you mastered ground balancing the detector on hot ground and listen for those faint signals you couldn’t even find a track under your coil. People were friendly and there where sharing information.
Since the SD series of detectors come to the market things have change. People got gold fever. Locations that gold been found even 0.1gm nuggets are now top secret. Most surface gold gone, and a new detector cost $6000. Farmers stopped giving permission freely to detect on there properties. Greenish making a lot of noise that metal detectors destroying the bush.
On top of that petrol prices @$1.45 per litter make it impossible to travel 400-500km for the day just to find nothing.
I had to change detecting style, by looking on the beach. Not that I will ever stop dreaming for” the foot of faith” ever

Yes it is a Whooper that's for sure, The sad part about it is That Kevin Hillier who Found it Died Last Year, Bless Him

His Historic Find has inspired A Gold Rush and the Detector Companies Owe Him A Great Big Thank You.

It was found with A Garrett VLF
