For your purposed all you need to know is that Radio Waves don't penetrate Earth worth a Crap.  The Lower the Freq the Better. The Higher less penetration.  Metal detectors Are about Electro Magnetic s and  Induction.

Thanks kinda figured this was the case.
Hoping the  Electro Magnetics and  Induction is improved by a better signal  in the intended target.
Gold ore and sometimes Silver ores are not the best conductors however there seems to be no shortage or iron in the ground to the point that it is a problem with most detectors.  The idea is to trace one at a time if that is possible by a number of feet long without reading every other target around that will hide the intended target signal.
Will never say that this is easy task especially with one machine or method of scanning.
One's budget can also play a roll of the tools and methods used as well.

Hello
If one can come up with a method that can scan 6 feet along a line this would be amazing progress.   Detecting Clapp
Maybe this is wishful thinking at this time just don't know.

I can already measure huge depths with my machines and also know the content / percentage's.

Hello
What machine can follow say a 3/4 inch wide target along a wandering line all the way through a 6 foot in diameter rock without drilling test holes?  Maybe no detector can?

May be of interest to some:
Do low frequency sounds really carry longer distances?

It is a common belief that low frequencies travel longer distances. Indeed, the bass is really what you hear when the neighbor plays his HiFi loud (Woom Woom). Try asking people around, a lot of them believe that low sounds carry longer distances.
But my experience isn't as straightforward. In particular:

Does iron in the earth have electromagnetic fields? The following may be of interest to some.
What are electromagnetic fields?

Electric fields   Magnetic fields
1.   Electric fields arise from voltage.
2.   Their strength is measured in Volts per metre (V/m)
3.   An electric field can be present even when a device is switched off.
4.   Field strength decreases with distance from the source.
5.   Most building materials shield electric fields to some extent.   1.   Magnetic fields arise from current flows.
2.   Their strength is measured in amperes per meter (A/m). Commonly, EMF investigators use a related measure, flux density (in microtesla (µT) or millitesla (mT) instead.
3.   Magnetic fields exist as soon as a device is switched on and current flows.
4.   Field strength decreases with distance from the source.
5.   Magnetic fields are not attenuated by most materials.

Does Iron in the ground effect Radio wave propagation? Is there a detectable field in Iron Ore Rock? The following Y-tube may be of interest.

You keep going back to Iron.  Every thing your looking for Screems MAGNETOMETER.

Have a look at his simple to build one you can record on a lap top via O-Scope program.

Hello
Very interesting and thanks homefire,   Will have to look more into how to make a MAG step by step.
Still stuck with this old two box unit to play with........LOL.....maybe I should not have bought it don't think this one could have made it for the price paid.

As per the users manual in order to chase a pipe you set the Txer on the ground over the pipe and walk the line with the Rxer.  Have to be 30ft away from Txer so not to be detecting the Air Waves.  Some ore bodies my work that way ?

Much better to "Direct connect TX antenna" (for max signal on target only) to one end of intended target then trace the line with RV box.  The only way is to use some copper wire at best to the target.
Don't know this for sure hoping someone who has used a two box detector can tell or point out some info out there.

Anyone power the older two box detectors with say 14-15 volts D.C. instead of the standard 12 volts D.C.?

Why would you want to do that ?  Look up Diminished Returns.
