I have found more than my share of Placer Gold. It takes a little luck. You need to learn how gold gets to the river or creek in the first place and how it is moved when it gets there. There is two theories on how gold has moved to the rivers and creeks over the past millions of years. To understand this you need to study the geology of your area. As the vien is exposed to the elements ( freezing and heat) the host rock disenergates freeing the gold. It starts it's long trip down the mountain side aided by rain, snow and earthquakes. What happened in the Sierra Navada Range was a giant uplifting of eastern slope. Most of the gold bearing creeks and rivers were cut and ended up on the sides or tops of mountains. As new creeks and rivers were formed they cut some of the old system and released the gold while the rest of the gold had to wait on mother nature to move it. When gold migrates down a mountain it spreads out forming a rough upset down vee. This can be followed to the source. Gold has a lot of slight color variations. I am assuming it has something to do with the sourse. I have no idea of how gold moves in your area but I know  mother nature is the answer...Art

When the gold gets to the water it starts working its way to bedrock. It will stay there until the force of the water moves it and the material on top of it. It will move along until a crack or some thing else stops it. It can drop out of the water when the water slows on an inside bend. It may drop out in a low pressure area behind a boulder. What I do is I find 3 or 4 spots above the high water mark. I mark these spots so I can return to them again. I take photos of 3 views of the river or creek at each spot when the water is low. When a big storm comes through the area I return and take photos at the same spot again. I do this again when the spring run off is happening. I can compare the photos and decide where I want to dig my test holes. Small rivers and creeks are deceiving. On small rivers and creeks the high water has a habit of straitening out a lot of bends.

What do you know about Recoverying Micron Gold from Gold Ladened @ $ .03-.05 per gallon (with Micron Gold, that is!) Rivers/streams!
I'm new, just finished building my recovery rig, I need more info, on how to recovery/leach, the gold from the resin/carbon filters!
I have a basic idea on how to "drop" the gold out...
BUT!
I now need more specific info, so that I can build the "leaching" rig/tanks !
If this "Son of a Gun!" Works,   Shocked
It'll sure beat, working for a living , for a lot of folks!
As there's plenty of Micron Gold out there ....
Even, In places like, Virginia, Ga., Mich., The New England States, etc.,
Until now, it WAS! unrecoverable !

Those "white" things, pointing upward, are the (15) filter housings.
They are made of, 3" x 18" pvc.
They are filled with a special, activied coconut carbon.
Which is of a polarity that attracts and holds Micron Gold.   Shocked
The/your "stream" is first assayed, to see how much Micron Gold is in it's water.
You'll get a "ppm"
Or! if you specifically ask,
How much! "cpg", cents per gallon !
Is in your/the water.
Clear, Clean (as possible) Stream water, is then pumped thru the filters ....
After pumping awhile (?) the pump is stopped and the filters are "leached" of their Micron Gold!   Cheesy
This unit would work great in states that have a heavy "fine" gold, gold areas!
IE: GA., some New England States, etc.
I have an acquaintance in the "Lode Country" of CA. who is making..
BIG! BUCKS!  :Smiley

I know someone out West who used  mercury coated plates and set them in a microscopic gold laden spring. Every so often he would scrap the amalgam off the plate and drop it in acid to extract the gold. This certainly isn't something I would do but I have seen it before.

Hey cptbil...I have never tried to recover it from the water. I have processed a lot of black sand and recovered a lot of micro gold that looked like gold colored baby powder when I was done with it. You shake the jar and it creates a cloud that takes a while to go away. I used a concrete mixer and Mercury to do this. The way you are working on seems to get smaller gold and is a lot safer. What is needed is for some one to put all this information in one spot so people would have a chance to understand it....Art
