Here is a dug Nazi helmet.   If it was being worn at the time of the incident that caused the top to be smashed in I doubt if the soldier survived such a blow.

     I found the helmet in a gulley area in France.  There were other WWII pieces around too.  This area was a scene of fighting in other times as well. The French now have military exercises in the place and there are  unexploded things around.  It is very dangerous to hunt there.
